March 31, 2004 - StoneBridge Wireless, Inc. Launches Wireless Broadband Services In Over 60 Minnesota and Western Wisconsin Communities
Burnsville, MN -- Minnesota-based, StoneBridge Wireless, Inc., a Broadband1 Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), has launched its broadband Internet service for business in the greater Minneapolis/St.Paul metropolitan area and rural locations in western Wisconsin and Minnesota.

StoneBridge’s fixed wireless broadband network delivers high-speed Internet access that supports bundled data, VoIP, bandwidth on demand, wireless redundancy, VPNs, email, video services and more. StoneBridge utilizes Line of Sight (LOS) and Non Line of Sight (NLOS) technologies to transmit signal from centrally located towers to customer locations. Access speeds can range from 400Kbps to 45Mbps for both upload and download.

StoneBridge has made great strides since its inception in October of 2000. “Many high-speed Internet companies have come and gone in the Telecom industry. The flawed business strategy of rapid expansion without a solid customer base has caused many Telecom businesses to fail,” states Stephen C. Gowdy, President and Founder of StoneBridge Wireless. “Our plan from the outset has been to build a strong subscriber base one customer at a time. We believe our established foundation and business strategy has helped fuel our expansion efforts and land the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Utility Service $4.25 million low interest loan in May, 2003.” The USDA Rural Utility Service loan is a pilot program designed to help bring broadband access to rural communities.

StoneBridge uses over 35 strategically positioned broadcast signal antennas to connect the Internet to a receiving unit located at the customer’s place of business or residence. “We’re very energized and excited about bringing our service to businesses underserved on the basis of their location,” states Stephen C. Gowdy. “In some cases, our services will be their only reliable, primary source for broadband connectivity to the Internet.”

StoneBridge will continue to build the system in select markets including communities located in the outer ring of the Greater Twin Cities Metro Area. StoneBridge recently added wireless broadband service in Minnesota—cities include: Shakopee, Red Wing, Arden Hills, Maple Plain, Hugo, and Monticello. Western Wisconsin also added service in the cities of Hudson and River Falls.

1Broadband—FCC defines broadband as having data transfer rates of 200kbps or greater for both upload and download time.
